As a teacher, it can be overwhelming to wrap your head around all the different, individual mental health struggles your pupils may be experiencing on a daily basis. The fact you are here and willing to learn is a big step towards helping your understanding. These videos provide guidance and practical tips on how to recognise mental health struggles in your pupils, and what strategies to implement to aid those students and their learning.
Sian William’s ‘Tips for Teachers’ videos focus on practical tips you can use in the classroom. Each video is catered towards a particular topic such as OCD, PTSD or ODD, and discusses several tips that will aid children or young people suffering with a particular mental health condition. The tips can range from simply listening to your student to creating a mood map for all children to use to help you monitor how they are feeling.
Alis Rocca’s ‘Tips for Parents and Teachers’ videos offer guidance on how to communicate with your students about their feelings and some tips on how to help your students deal with their emotions in a healthy way. The videos discuss the importance of mindfulness and yoga in easing students’ anxiety, as well as ways to help children label and speak about their emotions using the Feelings Wheel.
